Knockholt Road, Halstead

Location: Halstead, Kent
Client: Generator Group
Completion Date: Full Planning Application Approved December 2017

Grafik Architecture are pleased to announce the planning approval of 29 new homes on behalf of Generator Group in Knockholt Road, Halstead.

The proposed layout responds to the site opportunities and constraints sensitively and logically, opening-up direct views of the protected woodland from the public domain.

The scheme enhances the openness of the remaining strip of Green Belt on site and delivers a new permanent boundary and appropriate settlement edge, provides a sense of arrival, draw views of Deerleap Wood into the heart of the layout; and ensures the scheme has an appropriate woodland edge and density for the site.

The nature and location of the site means that it does not directly adjoin any existing residential dwellings and thus it has an opportunity to deliver its own character. Notwithstanding this, the design of the dwellings seeks to visually integrate the scheme into the local residential context with the sympathetic use of materials, vernacular detailing and a human scale that will define a sense of place. Taking the above into account it is considered that the scheme delivers the first design objective of delivering a high quality residential scheme that is seen as a stand-out development that the village, developer and new residents can be proud of.
