Planning consent granted at Land Adjacent to Inworth Road & London Road, Feering. - May 28, 2020

A Reserved Matters application has been approved on behalf of Bloor Homes for 162 new homes at Land Adjacent to Inworth & London Road, Feering.

The site lies to the south of Feering village, within the area of Gore Pit and behind the existing commercial and residential development that fronts both London Road the B1024 and Inworth Road the B1023. The A12 dual carriageway passes the site a ¼ of a mile to the east.

Following the approval of the Site Wide Strategy document which sets out the design principles for the development and any future surrounding sites. Character areas were established in this document through landscaping, boundary treatments materials and hierarchy of road types to assist with legibility and wayfinding and also to provide variety and diversity throughout the development.

The scheme proposes a tree lined boulevard entrance that takes its access from London Road and leads onto a streets that winds its way through the development, providing further access to shared surface Lanes and Green Lanes beyond.

The scheme generally proposes dwellings fronting out onto the public domain, creating a clear distinction between the public and private realms. Using a mix of 2, 3 and 4 bedroom houses, typically 2 or 2½ storey in height, along with a few 1 and 2 bedroom flats, 3 storey in height, they are positioned to create a neighbourhood with its own distinctive identity, having a semi-rural character and providing an attractive sense of place.

The incorporation of generous well landscaped areas of public open space become features of the scheme, creating an attractive entrance to the development and providing significant pockets of green space within the site.
