Gosbeck Road, Colchester - March 31, 2020

Grafik are delighted to announce the approval of a full planning application for 144 new homes on behalf of Bloor Homes in Gosbeck Road, Colchester.

The application site lies on the periphery of the settlement boundary of Colchester approximately 2 miles from the town centre. The site lies between Gosbecks Business Park to the north, an Archaeological Park to the south and a Scheduled Ancient Monument (SAM) to the north-west.

The proposed development, lying to the south-west of Colchester town centre, is a highly sustainable location both in terms of sustainable transportation links and proximity to local shops and services. The incorporation of cycle/foot way links, connects the development into the wider network of established cycle and pedestrian routes of Shrub End immediately adjacent to the site, giving easy access to local amenities. Promoting the use of sustainable modes of transport will be encouraged by the provision of secure and convenient cycle storage.

The proposed development is solely residential, consisting of 144 total number of dwellings, ranging between 2 and 3 storeys in height, with a mix of 1-4 bedroom properties.

Through the planning process the site has evolved forming distinct character areas to create a neighbourhood with its own distinctive identity, having a semi-rural character and providing an attractive sense of place.
